Moscow - The United Nations will host a discussion of the Syrian conflict which is planned on February 8, 2017 in Geneva. It was announced by Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, told reporters.
"Planned February 8, 2017 until the end of the month," said Lavrov, Friday, January 27, 2017, regarding a further meeting between the opposition to the Syrian government in Astana, Kazakhstan, which failed to produce results.
The UN has not confirmed the schedule for the second round of meetings between the Syrian regime and the opposition.
Earlier, reports say the main opposition pemimpimn Syria on Thursday, January 26, 2017, agreed to refuse the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to talk in Moscow.
High spokesman Negotiating Committee (HNC), Riyad Naasan, said the coordinator of the HNC Riyad Hijab has received a personal invitation to memnghadiri meeting on Friday, but declined.
"No invitation was sent to the High Negotiating Committee," he said.
HNC is kelompol legal umbrella of the main opposition Syrian and telahambil part in the peace talks initiated by the Syrian allies, Syria and Iran, and Turkey in Asatana, Kazakhstan, 23-24 January 2017.
